Balustrades

Guarding that holds. Every time, everywhere.

Metal balustrade systems designed for safety, durability, and clean integration. Assembled to suit structural requirements and everyday use. Built to work, built to last.

Common Features
Designed to protect, built to integrate

Our balustrades are fabricated for environments where safe access and controlled movement are essential. Each system is designed around its setting – whether protecting staircases, walkways, platforms, or mezzanines. We focus on structural integrity, fixing detail, and long-term durability. Height, loading requirements, and interface points are considered early to ensure compliance and straightforward installation.

  • Stair Balustrades – Integrated guarding for new or existing stairsystems.
  • Mezzanine Guarding – Edge protection designed for elevated platforms.
  • Industrial Handrails – Heavy-duty rails for high-traffic operationalareas.
  • External Guarding – Weather-resistant systems for exposed environments.
  • Infill Panels – Solid, perforated, or mesh panels for added security.
  • Modular Sections – Fabricated in manageable units for efficientinstallation.
  • Custom Designs – Bespoke configurations tailored to structuralconstraints.
Process Timeline

We assess the application, loading requirements, and fixing points before design begins. Structural interfaces and compliance considerations are confirmed at this stage. Clear understanding here prevents adjustment later.

Technical drawings are developed to reflect both safety standards and practical installation. Heights, spacing, and connection details are integrated into the design. Where the balustrade ties into other structures, alignment is carefully coordinated.

Components are fabricated using controlled processes and verified materials. Weld integrity and dimensional accuracy are monitored throughout production. Sections are prepared for efficient transport and on-site fitting.

Finished balustrades are checked against drawings and structural requirements. Fixing points and alignment are verified before dispatch. Units are prepared to support safe and straightforward installation.

FAQs

Your balustrade questions, answered

Specifying metalwork isn't always straightforward. Here are the questions we hear most often — and the honest answers.

What loading requirements do your balustrades meet?

We design and fabricate to the loading requirements set out in BS 6180 and Building Regulations Part K. That means we account for the specific use case — a balustrade in a busy hospital corridor needs to handle different loads to one on a private mezzanine. We'll confirm the correct loading classification for your environment and design accordingly, so there's nothing to query at sign-off.

What materials and finishes are available?

We work in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. Finishes include powder coating in any standard RAL colour, satin or mirror-polished stainless, and galvanising for external or high-moisture environments. If the balustrade incorporates glass infill panels, we'll design the framework to accept them with the correct tolerances and fixings. The finish is specified around where the balustrade is going and what it needs to withstand, not just what looks good on a mood board.

Can you match existing balustrades during a refurbishment?

Yes, and it comes up often — particularly on NHS and hospitality projects where you're extending or refitting part of a building and the new work needs to sit alongside what's already there. We can work from existing profiles, take site measurements, and match materials and finishes so the join between old and new isn't obvious.
